Chapter 5 – ABDUCTION
Panic surges in and he feels his heart wanting to come out. He has searched every corner of the ryokan and still no sign of his lover. He goes back to their room and stares at the fresh clothes resting on their futon, untouched. Even though Koki wants to believe that Yuichi just wandered off somewhere, it's impossible for him to walk around with just his robe on. Even Yuichi's phone is left on the small table by the window. He picks it up to search for clues but only sees unread messages from Ueda and Juri.
His own phone beeps, an unknown number flashed on the screen, he opens up and sees a message he has been dreading to receive. A suspicion that now confirms itself and Koki gets up gripping his phone tightly almost crushing it.
Tanaka-kun, have you found him yet? Well, I'm sure you haven't. If you want to see him, come to the abandoned warehouse by the bay. I'm sure you know where that is. You've practiced there so many times before. Come by yourself and let no one else know and your boyfriend will be unharmed. Make one wrong move and you'll regret it. You know me Tanaka...
-Your old friend
“Uebo, can you go to our place and fetch Juri? Please let him stay with you for a while...” he says hastily over the phone as he drives his way back to Tokyo. His mind is filled with thoughts of his lover. He prays to all the gods to keep Yuichi safe from Hongo's hands.
“Okay... I will. What's wrong Koki? Did something happen?” Ueda's voice is evidently worried as he hurries out of his home. His friend seems to be in distress and suddenly, a chill runs down his spine.
Koki fights back his tears and swallows the lump in his throat. “Hongo-san... he... he kidnapped Yuichi while we were in the onsen. I just broke ties with him a week ago and I'm sure he's taking revenge on me using Yuichi. I have to get him back, please keep Juri safe while I'll rescue Yuichi.”
“We should call the police.” Ueda stays automatically but Koki quickly and strongly responds.
“No! He will kill Yucchi if I come with someone else.”
Ueda pauses, biting his lips. “Don't let him hurt Yuichi.”
“I won't. I promise...” he speeds up the car hoping he can still catch the red car that was described by another guest in the ryokan. She apparently saw a strange tall man carrying another one in a robe and put him in the said car.
Ueda massages his temples as he reaches the bus stop. “I am on my way to your house. Come back home with Yuichi, okay? Be safe...”
Koki nods as if his friend could see it. “Thank you... Tatsuya.” he hangs up and keeps his eyes focused on the road.
Yuichi wakes feeling his body being lifted and carried. He opens his eyes but all he could see is still pitch black. He tries to speak but all that came out was a muffled sound and he finally realizes he is blindfolded and gagged, hands and feet both tied. He finally remembers the last thing he did before passing out and his heart sinks when he grasps the horrifying fact that he has just been kidnapped.
The tears that formed are instantly absorbed by the blindfold. He wants to scream Koki's name but nothing comprehensible comes out of his muffled mouth. He started squirming out of the arms of the person carrying him but he was too strong and the grip of the man is just getting tighter at each movement he makes.
“Just leave him there.” he hears that familiar authoritative voice and his whole body shivers in fright. He then feels his body dropped on the cold ground and then the sound of footsteps get farther and farther away. He tries to wiggle out his hands from being tied but his efforts are useless and his wrists just turn red from the friction with the rough rope.
“Don't bother trying to free yourself.” the same voice says and Yuichi can feel that he's walking closer to him. A rough hand tugs Yuichi's blindfold and he squeezes his eyes shut, finding the light too bright. It takes a few seconds before he opens them again and he sees Hongo's face right in front of him. The thin man leans back instinctively and glares at the yakuza.
“Daijobu Nakamaru-san, Tanaka will be here anytime soon.” The hand reaches behind his head despite his protests and his gag comes off next. Yuichi takes a sharp breath first before spatting out. “What do you want?!”
The yakuza smirks and kneels down to approach him. “I want to know what Tanaka found in you that he follows whatever you say like you're his master. He started defying me since you came in the picture and now you have completely ruined his bright future.”
“Bright future? You only want to make as much money as you can! I am not letting Koki put his life at risk for that. He can do so much more than just fighting. And Koki is not my slave. He did it because he loves me!” he raises his voice in anger, forcing his bound wrists and his skin starts to get blisters from it.
The older man laughs loudly. “Love?” he asks mockingly. “Or you mean by satisfying his carnal cravings?” he smirks again as he looks at Yuichi with dark eyes. “You know, I don't really swing on the other side and all along I thought Tanaka was straight as well. But I could see you're smooth enough to pass for a woman.” he chuckles in a mocking tone again.
Yuichi curls up his knees and pulls his robe to cover as much as he could. That simple thing is already hard to do with the condition of his hands. He keeps glaring at the yakuza but the frear is clearly evident in those brown pools. He flinches when the yakuza touches his bound ankles and he pushes himself with so much effort just to move away from him. “Don't touch me with your filthy hand!”
“Filthy, huh? Ja, later... I will show you what's filthy. And I will make sure Tanaka will be here to witness it too.” he smiles devilishly and stands up. “The two of you will forever regret opposing me.” he turns his back, “One more thing... My men are here, hiding in the shadows. If you try to escape, I will not hesitate to let them play with you.” he warns before walking away.
Yuichi could hear snickers everywhere proving the yakuza's words. And he decides to stay glued on his spot until he comes up with a plan to escape.
Koki runs past the empty and rusty containers at the dock as he rushes to the warehouse where Hongo-san told him to go.
“Tanaka...” a man smoking in front of the large metal gate speaks in a low voice. “Took you long enough...” he then enters the warehouse again after dropping his cigarette on the ground.
Koki follows him quickly, knowing he's one of Hongo's men. “Where is Yuichi?” he demands but gets no answer. After making through the labyrinth of dusty boxes, crates and rusty metal shelves, he finally reaches a huge empty space in the establishment and the first thing that catches his eyes is his lover curled up in the middle of the floor. “Yucchi!” he shouts, relieved that his lover is alive and then he runs to his direction until Hongo's voice stops him.
“Hold it right there, Tanaka.” he commands rather calmly and emerges from the dark, approaching Yuichi before Koki could get closer.
Yuichi looks up hearing Koki's voice call his name. “Koki...” a mix of emotions flood his heart when he sees his lover come to save him. It's the first time Yuichi felt so important, seeing Koki standing there and he knows that they both want to be in each other's arms right now. He feels guilt for being the reason why they are both in this helpless situation. And fear for what the yakuza might do to the both of them.
The yakuza takes another drag of his cigarette before squatting down next to Yuichi. “Oi, Tanaka... do you really love this fag?” he pulls out a gun and grazes the smooth metal on Yuichi's cheek. The latter gulps and instinctively closes his eyes.
“Hongo-san, please don't hurt him!” the words come out rushed from Koki's mouth and he takes a step closer to them. The former fighter doesn't get any farther from his spot because a hand suddenly grabs his wrist and keeps him from moving. “Hongo-san, I will go back to fighting... Just don't hurt Yuichi... I beg you.” He gets on his knees and bows deeply.
An evil cackle echoes inside the warehouse. “And now you're begging...” he shakes his head. “Return to fighting huh? Now???” he scolds. “All of your supporters and financers have already backed out. And you wish to return now? There is nothing to return to anymore. You ruined everything... Why?” he bellows. “Because of this goddamn bitch!” he presses the gun on Yuichi's temple.
Yuichi's body trembles. He has never been so scared his entire life and now he's at gunpoint, the cold metal kissing his head. He keeps his eyes down and doesn't say a word. Crying will not solve anything and will only make things worse. He does his best to fight the fear and be strong until this is all over.
“So... let's play a game.” The tall yakuza declares. The gun is moved away from Yuichi's head and he walks to Koki instead. “My men haven't played rough for a while. I'm pretty sure they'd be happy to give a couple of blows to Tokyo's greatest fighter...”
The moment he says that, a bunch of men hiding in the shadows appear one by one. Some are holding bats and others are holding metal pipes. “You won't mind taking a few blows right?” the sinister smile tells Koki that he means otherwise.
Despite that, Koki stands up and nods. He is willing to do anything just to make sure that Yuichi is safe. “Hai. Wakarimasu.” he looks at the yakuza with determination.
“And remember, if you make a single move to fight back...” Hongo aims the gun at Yuichi’s head again to emphasize his point then waves his other hand to signal his men to start while he sits next to Yuichi putting an arm over his shoulder and the gun swings right next to the thin man’s chin.
Yuichi cringes when Koki gets the first blow, a hard punch on his jaw and a second fist from another man follows suit. All eight punches in a quick succession and Yuichi’s tears start to flow as Koki just stood and let his body absorb each blow without retaliation. His body swings to whichever direction each punch sends him and crimson drops start staining the cold ground. “Hongo-san, I know you hate me. So please take it all out on me. Please stop doing this to Koki. “ He tries freeing himself again wanting to rush to his lover.
“We’ll get to that, fag... This is Tanaka’s share.” The yakuza reassures Yuichi and gives him a predatory look.
Yuichi wipes his tears using the back of his hand and tries his best to stand up. However, feeling the cold metal again right at his temple makes him stop. “Just kill me if that will make you happy. Kill me and let Koki go.” He pleads as his tears keep falling.
“I have a better idea than killing you.” Hot air penetrated Yuichi's system as the yakuza whispered on his ear and he never felt so disgusted in his life. “It feels much better than dying. That I can assure you. And it will forever stain your memories.” His deep voice is laced with imminent danger.
Meanwhile, Koki is still standing strong, taking each punch is nothing. He just swings with the punches like a pliant bamboo swaying to the direction of the wind. The fighter has experienced worse attacks and the punches seem to be just the appetizer with those stings. He only finds himself balling his fist when he sees the yakuza tormenting his lover. “Hongo-san! Leave him alone!” he feels the rage growing and the urge to counter-attack but he has to be strong because he knows that the yakuza can actually kill them both.
“Tanaka! Shall I remind you who's the boss here?” he has a smug look on his face when he sees Koki's reaction to his small move just now. He thinks how fun it will be when he gets down to the main event for the night.
Koki gulps and looks helplessly at them from his spot. He can't fail Yuichi. Not again. When Yuichi shouts his name, he suddenly gets back to his senses but it was a little too late because the next thing he feels is hard wood hitting his shoulder from behind. He drops down on his knee from the surprising blow but gets up quickly, preparing for more. Another hit on his back and he stiffens his body to resist each blow. He is starting to feel the pain now that the enemies are using hard objects to hit him. Another man walks right in front of him and swings the metal pipe right on his chest and a follow-up on his stomach.
The impact of the blow makes Koki cough out some blood and Yuichi is more than horrifed to see his lover being beaten like he's just a dummy. “Koki... fight back... don't think of me and just fight back.” Yuichi's voice is strained and he even chokes on his sobs.
Koki doesn't fight back but keeps his eyes on Yuichi finding his strength. “Dai...jo...bu.” he tries to convince his lover with a weak smile. His lip is already busted and there is a cut on his cheek but he can still stand on his feet. He's not called the greatest fighter for nothing. His endurance is one of his assets and Koki will stand with all his might until these men give up, decide they had enough and let them go.
The cold night drags on and Koki becomes a beaten pulp, shirt stained with blood and skin turning black and blue while Yuichi looks at him with bloodshot eyes, crying out and begging the heartless men to stop. The fighter finally gets worn out and falls on his knees almost about to pass out.
Yuichi shakily reaches his feet and struggles to untie his ankles just so he can run to Koki's side. He stops caring about the gun in Hongo's hand and uses all his strength to free his feet. His own wrists start to bleed from being forced but it's nothing compared to Koki's injuries. He scrambles up but the yakuza is twice as fast, cocking the gun and presses it on the thin man's temple.
“Take a step and your brain will scatter.” he warns and Yuichi freezes.
Koki shakes his head. “Yucchi... no...” he says in a shaky voice. “This will be over soon. Just.. just...” air suddenly becomes so scarce for the fighter and he wheezes in his struggle to breathe. “...hang on ...a little more.”
Three men approach Koki once again and start kicking him all over his body. The blond man just accepts them all and continues to breathe while he can. Then, one of them raises a metal pipe and hits Koki right on the head. Koki slumps down completely and blood flows down to his face right at once.
“Koki...” The rain starts to fall and the sound of raindrops cascading on the metal roof of the warehouse accompanies Yuichi's cries. The melody is so sad it reflects the grief in his heart. How can he be so useless now when Koki needs him the most?
A/N: Okay.. I knew writing this part will take me quite some time and I somehow managed to make it decent enough..
. Anyhow, the next part of this will be up in another week or two. (>_<) Also, I have no idea why my layout somehow suddenly turned shitty. I realized that my posts seem to have narrowed and invisible margins appeared making my post concentrate in the middle. WTH is that? I wonder if anyone has an idea.. *huffs*
